What an amazing Summer Fair!

June 18th, 2016

What a brilliant day we had today! Our summer fair was excellent and I went home tired but buzzing – I felt so very proud of the Roseberry family for their hard work and support. We are so very lucky to have members of our school community who give their time and energy freely for the benefit of all. We had a fabulous, dedicated, team of people working their socks off to make a difference for our children this week and I give thanks to each and every one of them. I give thanks, too, to the children and adults who came to support the fair and those who provided the many, many prizes we had for our stalls – their generosity was amazing. What a wonderful day! What a wonderful family!image

Roll up, roll up! It’s the RAFT Summer Fair on Saturday!

June 17th, 2016

RAFT members have been working their socks off today, preparing our school for their Summer Fair. The Fair is going to be brilliant with stalls, activities, competitions, refreshments, face painting and the opportunity to soak the teachers in the stocks! Please come along to support this special event and bring family and friends to experience all the fun of RAFT’s fair!

What’s visiting our wildlife area when we’re not there?

June 17th, 2016

This morning Heather, founder of Wild Intrigue, came into assembly to show us the footage that the trap camera she had placed in our wildlife area had filmed. We were very excited! We saw film of a squirrel, a rook, a pigeon, a cat, a rabbit and a hopping magpie! It was brilliant! She then showed us the footage that the camera had captured during her wildlife studies in Northumberland. We saw a deer, a badger and an otter. We are delighted that Heather is a member of the Roseberry family – we learn so much about nature when she comes to visit!
Look what the trap camera saw!

Great learning at Roseberry Academy!

June 10th, 2016

On Tuesday, I asked a group of children to visit classes and take, and annotate, pictures of great learning. What they came back with was amazing! Upon their return, they talked with enthusiasm about children helping one another, using learning walls to help them, positive environments for learning, challenge, engagement, adult support and ‘working together to form something great’.
I felt extremely proud when this was also seen by our visitors from the Enquire Learning Trust and another local school during an in depth Enquiry Walk on Thursday. They were amazed at the high expectations we have of children of all ages and the quality of the learning taking place. They were delighted to see children actively helping one another, without being asked to do so! One visitor exclaimed that our school is a healthy place to live and learn and that this is because we create an environment of authentic care. Everyone goes the extra mile to make our children’s school experiences the best that they can be. I am so proud to be the Principal of Roseberry Academy!
